Triton Media Group, LLC, is a portfolio company of a fund managed by Oaktree Capital Management, L.P., a global investment management firm. It is based in Los Angeles.
Triton Radio Networks is a subsidiary of Triton Media, based in New York. It has, in recent months, purchased the assets of many radio networks, including Dial Global, Waitt Radio Networks and Jones Radio Networks in 2008.
Triton's parent Oaktree also owned Gap Central Broadcasting and GapWest Broadcasting. Oaktree bought bankrupt radio station owner Regent Communications in 2010, and Regent was renamed Townsquare Media. Townsquare absorbed the GAP stations on August 13, 2010. That union formed one broadcast division, and kept the Townsquare name.
